Stressed Assets, Bankruptcy and Insolvency Practice 

Augustus Law has varied knowledge and comprehensive experience in handling intricate legal issues pertaining to distressed assets and corporate restructuring in India. Its corporate restructuring and insolvency law team has credible experience in handling demerger, spin-off, and asset sale transactions with a special focus on industries operating in information technology, software, and manufacturing sectors. With the inception of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, the Firm has been proactively advising several investors, asset reconstruction companies, and financial institutions on matters pertaining to the preparation of applications and ensuring professional appearance relating to initiation of Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process and Liquidation as financial creditor/ operational creditor/ corporate debtor, and providing guidance on the applicable statutory requirements thereof.

Banking and Finance

The Firm primarily assists clients in conducting due diligence and title investigation of properties, structuring of real estate investment transactions, drafting and negotiating property related documentation including registration of conveyance deeds, gift deeds, partition deeds, etc; structuring of real estate investments, and establishing investment trusts and funds in accordance with applicable laws of India. The Firm also assists several clients in liaisoning and securing necessary clearances and permits from relevant State, Municipal, Land Revenue, and other Governmental authorities for large-scale property development transactions.
